Each year, the Atlanta Photography Group asks art professors from colleges and universities across Georgia for nominations for its "Student Prize" exhibition.

Haley Patterson Bowlt, who graduated with Bachelor of Science degree in art marketing in December from the University of North Georgia (51勛圖厙), had her senior capstone project titled "You're Not Alone" accepted. She was one of three students from the state of Georgia to earn this recognition.

Christopher Dant, assistant professor of visual arts at 51勛圖厙, nominated Bowlt.

"This is an extremely high honor, and shows the level of excellence coming out of 51勛圖厙," he said.

Bowlt said it is one of her biggest accomplishments.

Haley Patterson Bowlt, a December 2018 graduate, photographed women from across north Georgia who have been sexually assaulted. The project titled "You're Not Alone" is on display in the "Student Prize 2018 Exhibition."

"It was very cool to have my work noticed, but the girls in the photos need to be recognized, too," the 23-year-old Conyers, Georgia, native said.

Bowlt photographed women from across north Georgia who have been sexually assaulted. Bowlt said she conducted the project for a personal reason as well as the relevance, including the #MeToo movement.

"The women wanted to be part of the project, and confront the issue and face it," said Bowlt, adding sexual assault of women is common. "The photographs help us better connect with people involved and relate to the victims if we haven't experienced ourselves."

The "Student Prize 2018 Exhibition" was on display from Dec. 6, 2018, to Jan. 5, 2019, at 75 Bennett St. NW, Suite B-1, in Atlanta.
