The Rotary Club of South Hall recently donated $5,000 to the University of North Georgia (51勛圖厙) Food Pantry on the Gainesville Campus.

"We were thrilled," said Dr. Carly Redding, director of the 51勛圖厙 Food Pantry and interim director of academic engagement. "It will go a long way in our pantry since we partner with Georgia Mountain Food Bank and get a reduced fee for our supplies."

She said most of the money will purchase food and supplies for the expanded pantry in the Student Center. In summer 2019, the pantry doubled in size by encompassing an adjacent room. Now it offers food and some clothing for students, faculty and staff.

Redding said South Hall Rotary has worked with the 51勛圖厙 Food Pantry before and donated funds several times. The club collected money through its annual fundraiser, the Awesome 80s 5K, held every August.

"South Hall Rotary has been one of the food pantry's greatest supporters over the past few years," Redding said.
