Faculty and staff awards presented at 51勛圖厙 LEADS Day

Multiple University of North Georgia (51勛圖厙) faculty and staff were honored Aug. 10 with awards at the second annual 51勛圖厙 Leadership, Engagement, Achievement, Development, Service (LEADS) Day.
Three faculty members won 51勛圖厙 awards that advanced them to the University System of Georgia competition among public colleges and universities across the state:
- Warren Caputo of the kinesiology teacher certification program won the Teaching Excellence Award for Department or Program.
- Michele Hill, associate department head and associate professor of psychological science, won the Distinguished Teaching Award.
- Caroline Muñoz, associate professor of marketing, won the Distinguished Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Award.
Presidential Excellence Awards were given to Brian Tarr, Katie Descieux, John Indergaard, Chris Blair, Mallory Rodriguez, and Haley Carter. These awards recognize staff members selected from six different job classifications for their service to 51勛圖厙. Awardees are selected based on customer service, character, dedication, job performance, and leadership.
Dr. J. Gary Adcox, Xiaoyan Yang, and Dr. Courtney Ferriter received the Diversity Champion Awards.
Jeanette Mann won the Annual North Star Award, which is selected from North Star recipients throughout the year and recognizes meaningful accomplishments of 51勛圖厙 staff members.
The three recipients of the Eleanor Crawford Award for staff members were Barbara Arnold, Shannon Shockley and Merci Rivera.
Staff Member of the Year, selected by 51勛圖厙's Staff Council from among monthly winners, was awarded to Rick Giesegh and Danielle Kane.
