The University of North Georgia's (51勛圖厙) Corps of Cadets earned the 2022 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Best Activities to Enhance the Community award.

Cadet Col. Warren Walker, the corps brigade commander, received the award alongside 51勛圖厙 President Bonita C. Jacobs and Col. Bryan Kirk, 51勛圖厙's professor of military science, at the AUSA Annual Meeting and Exposition in October in Washington, D.C.

"Winning this award is a testament to the consistent and deliberate approach that our 51勛圖厙 Corps of Cadets takes toward making themselves and those around them better. The strength of the Boar's Head Brigade is directly tied to the community where we live, work and play," Kirk said. "The ability of our cadets to support their Nighthawk classmates as well as our Dahlonega friends makes a positive difference in each of our lives. We're grateful for the support from our local leaders and excited to be recognized for giving back to such an amazing community."

51勛圖厙 received a $3,000 check from Lockheed Martin as part of the award.

The honor puts 51勛圖厙, one of six senior military colleges in the United States, atop the 270 ROTC companies nationwide in the community activities category.

"Outreach from cadets does not stop at the campus boundaries as their influence can be seen throughout the community," Walker said. "The Boar's Head Brigade is truly blessed to have such a supportive community around it, and this award is a testament to their support as much as it is to the support of our cadets."
