University of North Georgia (51勛圖厙) sophomore Denim Lovett was crowned Miss Georgia Teen USA 2023 on Nov. 19. The competition took place in McDonough, Georgia, where Lovett ran on the platform "involvement counts," which emphasized the importance of student involvement in schools and communities.

Lovett is pursuing a Bachelor Science in Nursing.

"My job is to let students know what involvement can do for them after graduation," the Bonaire, Georgia, native, said. "I have been able to speak to over 7,000 students, and that number grows daily. Hopefully one day I can help eradicate the statistic of high school dropouts."

Lovett, a student on the Dahlonega Campus, loves the still living in the quiet city, but encourages her peers to get involved and build community. She is involved in Revive, Surrender All, and Baptist Collegiate Ministries.

She is the CEO and founder of Involvement Counts, an organization aimed at lowering the high school dropout rate.

"I am someone who is determined to succeed, and I want to see others succeed as well," Lovett said. "I am also always growing, trying to be the best version of myself so I can be a positive light to others."
