All associate pathways are designed to prepare students to transition to bachelor’s degrees in their chosen majors. Both academic and personal resources are available to help all associate students explore their interests and move forward successfully toward their goals.

The Pathway+ program is limited to the Gainesville and Oconee campuses and to specific programs that combine several related areas of interest under a single name, such as Behavioral Sciences (Criminal Justice/Psychology/Sociology/Social Work). Components unique to Pathway+ include Learning Communities and a first-year experience course.

The Oconee campus offers three Pathway+ options (hyperlink): Behavioral Sciences, Education, and Business. For students who are not sure about choosing one of these pathways, Oconee also offers General Studies, an option to support students in exploring other interests. Students can also transfer to the Gainesville campus to pursue an associate pathway that matches their interests but is not offered on the Oconee campus.

The Pathway+ program is not available on the Cumming campus at this time.

When the same group of students share two or more classes, they boost their chances of academic success by sharing class information and forming study groups that support higher grade point averages. First year experience classes are attached to the Learning Communities and provide valuable information for college success.  

Learning Communities also offer opportunities to engage in college activities with peers and form lasting friendships!

If you are a new freshman, you will be able to make adjustments to your schedule from after your orientation session until the end of add/drop, which is during the first week of classes. During this time, if you choose to drop a Learning Community class, you must drop both classes. You can, however, add two Learning Community classes to replace those that have been dropped.

Check the Learning Community classes for Gainesville or Oconee.  After add/drop ends, you may drop one or both of your Learning Community classes, if necessary.

Your academic advisor’s name, along with the advisor’s contact information and the ability to schedule an advising appointment using our online system, is located on your tranguid in BannerWeb. Follow these steps:

1. Log in to .
2. Choose Student Tab.
3. Choose Student Records.
4. Choose Student Tranguid (Advising Transcript/Current Grades).
5. Scroll down the page to Academic Information to find your advisor’s name and contact information.

Change of major requests are submitted through a form on BannerWeb. To access the form, follow these steps:

1. Log in to .
2. Choose Student Tab.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and click on Degree/Major/Campus Change.
4. Read the information and questions carefully and follow the system prompts.
5. Submit form.

Note: The Registrar’s Office may take up to two weeks to process your request. After the add/drop period ends, all requests are processed for the next semester. Major changes will not be processed for a period of time prior to and during early registration periods. For additional information, contact the Registrar's office.

UNIV 1001 (fall semester) and UNIV 1002 (spring semester) are included in the Pathway+ Learning Communities. During fall semester, students in Learning Communities are required to enroll in UNIV 1001.

During spring semester, students in Learning Communities may have the option to enroll in a major-related course that includes first-year experience information in place of UNIV 1002. Check with the advisor listed on your Tranguid for more specific information.
